Listen to the warning (Friday Fictioneers)

July 10, 2015

She could just make it out ahead.

Light! Finally. After the strangest night ever she was going to find her car and just drive away. The smell of the colored lights still danced in her nostrils and her vision sparkled in the corners of her eyes.

Walk toward the light.

Voices whispered behind her but she couldn’t make out the words. Entreaties to stay? Threats to leave? Love and hate all rolled into stretchy balls.

She stumbled.

Her Poppa had warned her. She swore – never again – to enter the fairy caves after dark on a full moon.
