Last note (Friday Fictioneers)

January 22, 2016

untitled

Music flowed down the length of the hall to where I stood. The notes were hesitant at first, as though the musician was uncertain. Slowly a song formed, caressing my senses with a lover’s touch. Then the voice joined the notes. Crystal clear, soaring high above the piano’s song as if reaching up to touch the stars.

I began to distinguish words. Fears and loves, hopes and desires burst forth from the singer sending shivers down my spine.

I was transfixed until the last note died away.

Heart full, I left before she saw that I had trespassed.
