No hope (Friday Fictioneers)

January 29, 2016

There was no way in. I waved my team mates back to the car. “I can’t see—”

Jack shook his head. “We have to find a way.”

“I know,” I spat at him. In daylight it was impossible to tell how secure the place was but I’d spied camera mounts, wires, and a well-worn path from booted feet. No hope.

“I have a plan,” whispered Melly.

I turned to her. “It better be a good one.”

“You won’t like it.”

She was right. But we got Matthew out. Turned out, he looked alright in a dress.

  1. Nice little story for a migraine. The dress at the end is a bit of comic relief after a tense rescue. 🙂

  2. Ha! Love that little twist at the end.

  3. Ha.. I guess we all look good in a dress when desperately needed.

Hope the head feels better! There are many migraine sufferers in my family. Definitely not fun.
    This story, however, was fun!

    • Thank you Dale. Yes runs in my family too.
I needed a smile so I’m glad it worked!

Bummer. My sister’s on Relpax – she’s allergic to ibuprofin so is limited in what she can take – works really well for her…

      • Oh poor thing. Yeah it’s not fun.

  5. Dear Laurie,

I hope by now your poor head is better. I’ve suffered quite a few of those myself…no fun.
I love your story and the twist at the end. I wrote one sort of similar a couple of years ago. Different theme, similar solution. If you’d care to read it here’s the link. https://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com/2013/04/03/5-april-2013/

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  9. Nice story. Sorry about the migraine. I get them too so I know how debilitating they can be.
