End of month (Friday Fictioneers)

July 6, 2017

I plonk the cup down and let out a whoop.

“Dammit!” Stacey groans. The rest of the admin team looks less than impressed. I jump to my feet crowing my victory.

The monthly competition over how many corrections our team makes requiring reprints or replacement pages was childish sure… but it gives us something to look forward to.

I run my fingers over the box’s edge licking my lips.

“All right, all right! Just take it already.” Stacey slumps back in her chair, defeated.

I cracked the seal. The aroma of chocolate fills my nose.

And I was NOT sharing.

  1. The things we do to make office work interesting. Nice one 🙂

  2. Sounds like a fun place to work!

  3. Dear Laurie,

To the victor go the spoils. Well done. Maybe she’ll change her mind about sharing. 😉

  4. Let them get their own chocolate 🙂

  5. Oh, that smell of chocolate! If a one hundred word story can be a page-turner, that was a page-turner!

  6. Moon permalink

    Nice story , Laurie.🙂

  7. Ha ha ha. Love the office humor.

  8. Let’s hope she keeps a track of her waistline as she’s particularly not into sharing. And especially so if she is a serial winner. Good take on the prompt, Cheers.

    • Thank you!! The good thing about her job is all the running around between floors and to the printers!

  9. Ha.. what can I say… anything to make something boring interesting, and chocolate is a great reward.

  10. michael1148humphris permalink

Does she also always win the weekly coffee comp, if so I will be falling out with her.🙂

  11. It all helps to pass the time, I guess. And a box of chocs at the end of it… worth every minute.

  12. Dale permalink

Whatever makes the day-to-day dullery that is office work, fun!

  13. Mmmm, I can smell that chocolate. It would make me work hard, too.

  14. Chocolate is a great motivator. Sounds like a fun office!

  15. gahlearner permalink

That was fun. I’m all for making boring work more interesting, and chocolate sounds just like the perfect thing. One of my coworkers has a sign on her desk that says:
    Did you see the chocolate?
