A curious thing (Friday Fictioneers)

January 25, 2018

PHOTO PROMPT © Sandra Crook

I passed it every day. Never once did I think to ask how it got this way, melting into the earth. Brittle concrete exposed steel beams and struts desperately trying to hold it all together and failing with the passage of time. Rain, snow, wind in cycles, then radiating heat that stretching into every crack forcing them wider.

It was the cascading fall of pebbles that first got my attention. I crept inside, eyeing the unstable walls with concern. A long hand with even longer fingers beckoned me forward. Grey skin and giant eyes drew me closer.

“Come with me.”

  6. How mysterious! The monster sounds like Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films.

  7. Yeeeek. Turn around quick. (I know you won’t listen) Good one, Laurie.

  8. Dear Laurie,

Sounds like alien abduction alert. Beware! Good one.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

Nooooo…. stay away from the grey finger!!

  10. This is the kind of story that demands a sequel.

  11. I think that the grey skin is just from lack of company… a sweet little monster who will share his wealth… just go ahead.
