A picture perfect day (Friday Fictioneers)

March 29, 2018

I looked out over the remains of the party. Dirty dishes, trash, scrunched paper and ragged balloon rubber surrounded me. A happy feeling filled my chest and belly. What a great afternoon, surrounded by my friends and family celebrating a wonderful day. No fights, no arguments, no glances caught from the corner of the eye and no one stayed home to avoid anyone else.

I snorted and leapt from my chair as the cat landed on my lap. Shadows had crept across the yard, and the sky was dimly overcast. Goosepimples spread up my arms.

Nothing but a crazy dream.
