Buried Treasure (Friday Fictioneers)

“What have you found, love?”
“Dunno, darl. Something metal. What do ya think?”
Sherrie stepped closer, not so close as to risk slipping but close enough to catch a whiff of the muck, “Ew! Be careful.”
John reached into the cloudy water and tugged. He let out a grunt and shifted his feet, pulling harder. Releasing the shovel, he plunged both hands in.
The smell was overpowering still Sherrie inched closer. “What is it?”
“A beer bottle.”
“AHHH!”
The edge of the hole crumbled taking Sherrie with it. She landed on John knocking them both onto their butts.
Buried treasure!

Dear Laurie,
Very visual piece. Now I want to know what the buried treasure is.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Hahaha I think its them together… in the mud don’t you?
I’m betting there’s a message in the bottle
Oooooo good bet Neil! Always check…
Oh! To leave us hanging like that… I was worried the stink meant something else…
Nah just icky muddy water but the bottle… hmmmm 😉
All that glitters is not gold. Thanks for the chuckle. 😄
Ahhhh so true!!
All that for an out of date bottle of beer! Wonderfully visual – and smelly. Nice one Laurie!

Great imagery in this fun piece.
And there was I expecting a piece of spaceship. There has to be more than a beer bottle down there to be making that whiff. Hopefully it’ll wash off when they reach the shower. 🙂
Hmmmmm I wonder indeed. You know me pretty well 😉
So they both ended up in there. Great word picture.
Oh yup… both and in the mud. Ewwww
Oh! Treasure, not treasure, treasure, not . . . Well done.
Hahaha yeah and they ended up stinky and wet to boot! Fun sunday gardening
Great imagery…and “smellery”….LOL!
Hahaha thank you Donna, glad it didn’t really stink 😂
Teehee! You’ve written a nice fluent piece of humour, Laurie. Nothing like some slapstick for raising a smile!
Thank you Penny!! Exactly right… needed a laugh 😉
The treasure is a perfect thing… not they just have to find a crystal pool to get clean.
Haha well yes… can you imagine the smell too? Hunting for Treasures can be stinky! Showers for weeks!!
