Pressing her shoulder hard up against the brick she counted to three and poked her head around, snapping back fast as bolts exploded around her. Splintering shards of brick cascaded over her. “Damnit.” Her spaceship was located on the other side of this wall. Problem was the guard between her and her ship.

Flicking her ear chip with her finger she called her ship. “Gonna be late.”

“Need help?”

“Nah, I’ve got this.” From her jacket pocket she pulled a flash grenade. “Things are gonna get loud. Stand by.”

She placed it on the ground and took off running.

BOOM!

  1. Yep, lots of SciFi action here. Will she make it? a nice piece of tension. Fun read.
I wonder why all SciFi tends to revolve around the human trait of violence – just an observation.

    • Interesting isn’t it. I think unfortunately we can all relate in one way or another. Thanks for reading James

  2. Later she will be worshipped as a god

  3. Dramatic action. Wonder what she is running away from…

  4. Abhijit Ray permalink

Has access to spaceship but no technology to cross the wall! He should ask for technology upgradation.

  5. Nice action piece.

  6. An explosive story! Great!

  7. I am sure she just stole some incredibly destructive piece of technology being created in the “no one will find us here” hideout. This was fun.

  8. That was lots of fun, Laurie.

  9. Dear Laurie,

Good build of tension and sense of urgency. Hope she makes it to her ship.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  11. She seems capable to handle it… one guard cannot stop her.
