Do you hear laughter? (Friday Fictioneers)
PHOTO PROMPT © Jeff Arnold
It was the cackle, growing in pitch and insanity that I will always remember. The sound of little feet. In even the darkest night I hear those feet, running across floorboards.
The doll was a birthday present. Last birthday I ever celebrated.
Even now I see blood on the walls, though it has been years since I lived in that house.
The only survivor…
Hah
Survivor? Traumatized victim more like. It’s the 31st again. October. I hate this month and the memories it brings.
A door creaks. My fingers sweat where I grip the knife.
Why do I hear laughter?

Fright night! The one time in the year when insanity takes precedence, a terrible thought. Spin chilling in many ways.
Thank you James!! One night of chills and scares.. eeep
‘spine chilling.’ Must look up when typing.
All good James! Lol I do it too!
Ooh, deliciously scary! Reminded me of the sort of thing Stephen King would write.

Thank you Iain!! 😊
Ooh that’s creepy! Well done!
Thank you!! 🙂
Creepy! Now i wonder if it’s the doll’s feet or the narrator’s? She is holding a knife…
Thank you. Aha! I wondered if anyone would question that! Indeed perhaps it is she who was the initial perpetrator! haunted forever…
Suspense was nicely escalated.
Thanks you Sandra. I thought it was time for a creepy story! 🙂
Excellent, Laurie.
Thanks so much John!
Dear Laurie,
I had a doll as a child that gave me nightmares. Your story put me in mind of her. Creepy and menacing. Well done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
I sure hope you doing get nightmares about it now! I find dolls and children can be very creepy in the right setting! 🙂
A chilling story. Who is she afraid of? The doll coming alive or some other killer?
Hmmmmmm you might have picked it! Something IS coming
A doll doesn’t have to do anything to be creepy to me – especially those china ones. Disturbing.
Ooooo I agree Jilly, so creepy
Scary stuff, and as for that final line…..ooo-errr!
Click to read my FriFic tale!

A murderous doll, or a child being frightened to murder herself… creepy tale.
Thanks Bjorn. A murderous doll… to start
Scary. Evil dolls seem to be the very worst thing, perhaps after clowns. Well told Laurie
