“Nice touch on the artefacts.”

“I thought so… Looks like a human did it.”

“You don’t figure they’ll work it out?”

“Please, over three thousand years and they haven’t yet.”

A flitter of wings lifts her up to the carving on the top of the post. “They got cameras and such these days. What if—”

“—nah, used this.” He holds up a small black box. “Fritz their comms. Hahaha! They think it’s a network dropout.”

“Genius.” Pulling in her wings she dives for the base, flaring them out and flapping rapidly to hover. “That supposed to be me?”

Aliens blocking human camera with some device! Aliens are here sitting on top of us. Too many network failures these days.

  11. This was all around wonderful, Laurie!

  12. Great idea here.”Fritzed their comms” is such a telling expression. Are we really going to be just as dumb in 1000 more years as we are today–in spite of our comms?

  13. Lovely voices in your highly imaginative take. “Fritz the comms” is new to me. I like it!

  14. Imaginative creatures and so sneaky too. Delightful story!

  15. They are everywhere… the government knows but they are secretly cooperating.

  16. Crafty little imps, methinks. Nice story
