The wheel turns (Friday Fictioneers)

January 31, 2019

PHOTO PROMPT © Renee Heath

Lying back, I take in the sunset. Glorious. A scent of earth and grass with a hint of… Something else. Candy floss sky. My granddaughter plays on the dusty ground at my feet.

There is peace here. Life. Never ending and always moving. The wheel turns. My time is near. I know my daughter senses it though we have not spoken. A giggle draws my gaze back down. So happy. Where her life will take her, I do not know. Though I will always watch over her.

I take another whiff… Oh wait a minute…

Someone needs a diaper change.

  1. A lovely journey from the philosophical to the practical, Laurie

Even in sublime moments, reality strikes.

  7. A precious moment spoiled – or should that be soiled?

This is so realistic. From the internal wise thoughts taking us on a little wander to the drag back to the pressing need of the present moment. I can certainly relate …

  9. All a part of the circle of life 🙂

  10. Dear Laurie,

Love the way the ending brought us back to the …erm…aroma of life. Well done.

    • Hahaha thank you, Rochelle. I think after the first few lines I knew exactly how I was going to end it.

Heh, what fun. All philosophical with the circle of life when the stink of reality brings her back.

  12. Ha… I can almost here the “thud” when the narrator return to ground.

  13. Sentimental musings with a dose of reality hitting us at the end. Interesting way to pull it all together.
