“Wasn’t he supposed to meet us here?”

“I thought so.” She peered around at the line that ran all the way down the street. “Do you think he’s down the back?”

A shake of her friend’s head greeted that comment. “We’re not seeing that one.”

“What? What are we seeing?”

“He didn’t say. But said we’d enjoy it.”

“I dunno about that… I’m not into all that geeky stuff.”

She shivered, pulling her coat tighter. “Where is he?”

A spotlight hit them. She squinted, looking up. “What on earth?”

“Not on earth.” He waved from the hot-air balloon’s basket. “Ready?”

  1. Now all they have to do is figure out how to get up there. Or is he going to project a light show from the balloon?

  2. The romantic in me suggests this is a prelude to a proposal, perhaps.

  3. Dear Laurie,

If it were me, I’d rather see a geeky movie. 😉 Nice one.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  4. Well, that’s a novel idea for a date night, except there are two women, not just one, which makes a rather odd date. I wonder what he’s really up to 🙂

  5. This could go in so many directions, Laurie.
    Fun take!

  6. A novel twist and the start of an adventure!

  7. Nice twist – a hot air balloon ride is still on my bucket list.

  8. Up up and away! Delightfully different.

My tale – An audience with Rosey!

  9. What a pleasant surprise 🙂

  10. A good story with a great ending twist, Laurie. I hope he brought blankets if they’re going up in the balloon. The main character is already cold. 🙂 — Suzanne

  11. Abhijit Ray permalink

Her friend was true to his words. Who doesn’t enjoy a balloon ride?

  12. That was a surprise. I hope she’s not afraid of heights, or of uncomfortable threesomes in confined spaces. Fun story.

  13. These friendship dates usually end up with the man running off with the best friend. Hope they enjoy the balloon ride. Makes me think of the movie Around The World in 80 days.

    • Aha well now there’s an idea. Or maybe the two girls? Thank you about 80 days ref that’s the vibe I was going for 😊

  14. That sounds spooky, but fun! 😀
