RSVP (Friday Fictioneers)

The invitation was fraught…

“Family reunion”

Who thought that would be a good idea? From Jonny cheating on his wife with her sister to Grandpa Bobby’s alcoholism, great niece Sara’s tourette’s and Manny’s not so secret heroin addiction. And then there was Nana’s new relationship with a woman she wanted everyone to call Granny much to Pa’s surprise and Patrick’s polyamorous lovers. I mean half the family don’t talk to the other half, and those that did dobbed on the rest. It was insanity to think the night would go well.

Am I going?

You bet your ass I’m going.

  1. Yep, who wants to miss the ‘family’ so much going on, lets hope their depravity doesn’t rub off onto you. I can image the collection of gossip going on.

  2. Of course she’s going. At the very least, there’ll be some great stories there.

  3. Dear Laurie,

That last line made me laugh. I can see where it would be an entertaining evening at the very least. Good one.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  4. Sounds like a great night, I’m in! 🙂

  5. Great last line. I could not help but snicker.

Sounds like some reunion. I imagine that if you turn over the rock of many an extended family, you’d find a writhing swarm of awkward encounters ready to to be had.

    • Thank you. Oh I totally believe every family has hidden secrets. And sometimes it doesn’t take much to come out in the open

  6. gahlearner permalink

LOL, of course she would go. The best source for people watching and writing them into stories, isn’t it?

  7. lol Sounds like an event not to be missed…unless the narrator becomes a target. 🙂

  8. Sounds like a not to miss event. Good one, Laurie.

  9. I’d love to be a fly on the wall at that do! Brilliant!

    My story is about Masie!

  10. And miss all those shenanigans? No way would I miss it either!

  11. Sounds like a template for “every family”. A little chaos once a year is ok but a steady diet no thanks. I jumped off that merry-go-round a few years ago and thought I heard cheering as I ran away 😉

  12. Sounds like a great opportunity for some free entertainment 🙂

  13. Brilliant, made me laugh out loud when the cricket is stressing me out muchly! Thanks for the release!!

  14. Ha.. with all that going on it sounds like fun… and you might just as well bring your own luggage as well.

  15. Ah, ha, ha. What a crazy family. It sounds better than a TV sitcom. In fact, it does sound like a TV sitcom. 😀 — Suzanne

  16. Haha. At least they won’t have to look for another source of entertainment, I’m guessing.
