Hello in there (Friday Fictioneers)

Do you think they will notice?

I’m standing here at the window looking in. I even tried tapping against the glass. There used to be food out here. So much food. Now they are all locked inside and all I’m left with are worms.

Worms!

Have you ever tried to eat worms? I mean sure… they are nutritious and fulfil all my daily needs but… chips. Come on have you tried chips? Or bread? Oh, such doughy goodness. And seed… they used to scatter handfuls of seed on the wooden stands out here.

  1. Nice whimsy, Laurie. My guess is, if birds can feel happiness, they’re happier now with an uncluttered world. Though we do still put out bird seed in the garden

  2. Even the birds have to adapt to the new world!

  3. Yes, I wonder will nature and the animal kingdom get used to the loss of humans?
    I am sure they will.
    Nicely told.

  4. Dear Laurie,

Poor bird. Had to explain. He’ll just have to suck up the worms. 😉 Nicely done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  5. Poor bird… now has to return to his natural world – fending for himself

  6. Poor bird. We have chickens and they do enjoy their morning toast, pasta for lunch and dinner scraps for dinner. Worms! who would eat worms? Funny isn’t it?

  7. Ha, Laurie. Yes it could take a while for the birds and beasts to understand what’s going on. Someone mentioned the other day, the mosquitoes must be going crazy, they’re hatching and hungry now and there’s no one to bite.

    • OMG I didn’t even think about THAT ! The mosquitoes have been vicious here in the last few weeks. Makes total sense now!

  8. I’ve wondered what the animals are thinking about all our changes in schedules! Your writing was perfect for the prompt. One of these days, I am going to take a stab at one of these Friday Fictioneers. They seem like fun.

  9. Oh.. now… spring is here, and there is time for worms… (and that’s so much better than slugs)

  10. Awwww birdy, maybe soon you’ll have your treats again.

  11. We absolutely NEED lighthearted silliness right now!
