Fairy godmother (Friday Fictioneers)

July 9, 2020
PHOTO PROMPT @ A. Noni Mouse

Flittering high above the filthy kitchen, Missy fluttered her wings and dove on the pot in the sink. “Oh dear.” Hard caked-on bolognaise. She glanced over her shoulder at the flickering lights in the lounge room and the woman who—exhausted and stuck in a restless sleep—tossed and turned, uncomfortable but not enough to wake. Missy pointed at the television and turned it off. She waved and a blanket floated from the cupboard to drape over the woman’s stained nurse’s scrubs. Turning back to the kitchen Missy waved and dishes began to clean themselves.

The woman slept on oblivious.
