Tear it down (Friday Fictioneers)

The sepia-stained light colored my view of the old house in that late-afternoon-sunlight-in-Summer way that memories were often portrayed in movies. It made the old house look innocent. That place was any but innocent. When we left, all those years ago, I thought we’d escaped the horrors that lived inside.
What my therapist didn’t realize was that the ghosts that lived here were real. Specters, ghouls, monsters, demons… This house was made of darkness and shadows and pure evil.
Revving engines and a squeal of brakes preceded the bulldozer’s appearance.
“Love, green light to demolish?”
“Go for it,” I ordered.

I hope that’ll be the end of the horrors. Great story, Laurie!
Thank you!
I love the “sepia stained light” merging reality and memory
Thank you, Neil!
Some therapists just don’t understand! I sense destroying the house might not be the end of her troubles.
You might well be right, Iain!
If only we could demolish the mad demons living inside our heads as easily.
So true James
Yes, I wonder too if demolishing the house will get rid of the ghosts and demons for real. I rather think not. Good piece, thank you.
Thank you!
Sometimes buried evil is better than raking through it. in front of a skeptical therapist. Yep, bulldoze that house!
Heck yeah! First step is a doozy.
Dear Laurie,
I’m sure demolishing the house is the right thing to do. I hope this is healing for the narrator.
Shalom,
Rochelle
I don’t think it will but it’s a first step
I love how you introduce the house as looking so innocent and then telling the reality. I’m glad it is getting bulldozed. Sometimes you can get the local fire department to burn it for training also. It needs cleansing by fire!
Oooo nd then you get the firemen to watch 😉 win win methinks
🙂
And so the nightmares end. Or do they? Well done.
I wonder
Sometimes you just have tear down the past.
Agreed!
When the house is bulldozed, where will those apparitions go? Spooky, for sure!
Ooooo now there is a spooky thought
Not the best therapist, I’m thinking… The physical destruction is not enough. Well done.
Thanks Dale!
