May luck mark you (Friday Fictioneers)

I stare in awe at the dragon eggs floating on the Sacred Sea. I’d heard how beautiful they were but they surpassed my expectations. There was a silence in the air. A pause on the breath of the wind. Waiting, hoping. They’ve been here for years. Shown no signs of hatching. The government’s scientists said they were fertilized, were “live” so to speak. Many chose to make the pilgrimage in the hope that luck would mark them.
Hairs raise on my arms. An icy chill puffs against my skin.
Crack. Crack.
I hope they’re not hungry.
Screeches fill the air.

Loved “I hope they’re not hungry”
Thank you!
Ha! This was great. Beautiful eggs with deadly cargo. (It reminds me of the words from politicians.)
Haha haha oh yes!
A definite case of be careful what you wish for!
Oh yes, very true
Dear Laurie,
Stand back. Newborns usually come into the world hungry. Love the atmosphere in this story.
Shalom,
Rochelle
That is what I was thinking too! Eeeep
I don’t think I’d be hanging around. Nice one.
My story!
Yeah me either!
Hmm, could be a case of ‘be careful what you wish for’. Cool take on the prompt.
Ooooo so very true!
Never stop and stare at things you don’t understand – just run away! Great take on the prompt, well done!
Thank you! Indeed be careful and perhaps don’t stare. 👀
You’re welcome, good advice too.
Oh dear, I think they were hungry. Great suspense and build up. Very poetic.
I’m afraid so! Thank you so much!
Wonderful. The mood, the mystery are perfectly set. And then the end made me laugh (sorry for the MC). Crack, crack…
Hahaha thanks! 😊
Yeah, screeches are hardly ever a good thing, especially after the crackcrack 🙂
Exactly!!
Let’s hope they are not hungry for humans…
I have a feeling it won’t pay to get too close !
I think you are right! 🙂
How blessed she is to witness the hatching, and if they are, it would be an honor to be their first meal. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it 😉 Very neat fantasy.
Hahaha ! I’m not sure I feel the same way 😜
