Enter if you dare (Friday Fictioneers)

PHOTO PROMPT © Roger Bultot

It was a place of secrets. A dangerous place. Items from all over the world were kept inside. Magical items. Items of myth and legend. Items from other planets. A shop of wonders. A shop the locals didn’t dare to enter.

All but one.

Shanah picked the lock on the door in less than 10 seconds. Her best effort yet. Popping open the door she slipped inside and flicked her phone flashlight around. Something was worth money here.

Green smoke told her she’d tripped an alarm.

The smoke cleared. The store was empty. The door locked tightly shut once more.

  1. She’ll be fine. She just has to wait for another burglar and she’ll be released. Fun story, Laurie

  2. Oh no, where did Shanah go? What a great fantasy, could lead to more.

  3. Great story. We need to know more.

  4. Oooh, different. Good one.

  5. Sounds to me like the shop itself was an international traveler. Or maybe it was just a hologram?

  6. Seems it wasn’t her best effort after all! Nice one Laurie.

    Here’s mine!

  7. Dear Laurie,

And you leave us hanging, wondering what became of Shanna. Was her curiosity her downfall? Nicely done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  8. Oh dear. Curiosity kills the cat-burglar. Love the detailed setup, Laurie, which achieves its aim of adding to the mystery of the shop.
    pax,
    dora

  9. The last anyone saw of Shanah – crime doesn’t pay!

  10. Uhoh. I bet she can’t pic the loc from the inside!

  11. Oh, Laurie, there must be more to this. I picture her still in the store. Well done.

  12. It’s a tricky situation moving between dimensions, when you least expect to. I feel the trap was set and some spider like creature is seeing the table for tea.
