I’ll choose my path (Friday Fictioneers)

White flowers were planted because that was what she wanted. For me, there were two purposes for the white flowers. Memory and direction. The white flowers point me toward the spot from where she came, from where she returned to. I laugh now thinking of how mad she sounded. Magic, caves, elves! I mean crazy. Right? Who’s the crazy one now? I’m going to find her and bring her home. I hike the backpack higher on my shoulder. I packed everything I thought I’d need. Food, flashlight, clothes. A knife. She’s coming back with me. I’ll make sure of that.

In Scotland, we have myths of selkies: seal creatures who shed their sealskins and come ashore to tempt young men. This could be a selkie story
Oh indeed yes I could be! I love that idea.
Dear Laurie,
Apparently she wasn’t so crazy after all. I hope she finds her.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Agreed! She’s certainly determined.
Elves in caves can only mean danger. I fear even with a knife, they may be under-armed!
Oh agreed ! She might need a few friends.
It sounds like she is coming back dead or alive.
Hopefully so!
i wonder is this a rescue mission or a forced repatriation for her own good. I mean who wants to live in a cave with dodgy elves. Right!
In this case, a rescue mission… at least in her head it is.
Determination and attitude are everything when it comes to going to get another. Well done, Laurie.
Yes exactly Bill!
🙂
This is a great read, like an intro to a story with so many possiblilities. Wonderful.
Thank you so much!
I think she can redeem her doubt through the quest and will bring back her beloved. Good story!
Yes, I sure hope so!
Lovely idea to use the white flowers in this way, as a pointer. Great start to a magical quest. I hope she is found and rescued successfully.
Thank you, Margaret !
