Of all things! (Friday Fictioneers)

Such a fabulous summer day. Hardly a day you would expect to find a body. Certainly not a day you would find an alien body on the footpath.
It’s in a suburban street! I mean, children play here. Families gather for parties and picnics.
What is the world coming to?
Shooting a glance around to ensure I’ve not been seen, I cover the twisted form in a tarp and spend several sweaty hours dragging it to my garage.
John, my new neighbor, pulls up in his empty truck looking frazzled. “Hello, love. You haven’t seen my Halloween costume, have you?”
This post is a little later than usual. I was out watching Hamilton last night! Fabulous show but got home WAY too late for my Friday Fictioneers prompt response…

I like the humour with some SciFi thrown in. Just can’t let that alien be a costume, it spoils the fun.
Aha but maybe it’s not… 👀
That twist made me laugh. You’d lured me into a false sense of security thinking “Yup, a Laurie alien story”
Hahahaha of course! All the better for the twist to work 😉
Must have been a really heavy costume! Or the MC is a wee thing… 😉
Fun one, Laurie.
Haha could be both? I do find it suspicious myself!
Why not? 🙂
Set me up for some fun. Nice humor.
Thank you!
Nicely done, Laurie. 🙂
Thanks Bill!
Sounds like an adventurous neighborhood to live in. It’s those quiet neighborhoods where the real oddities happen. Fun story, Laurie.
Oh yes, never trust a perfect looking suburban street!
thanks for the chuckle!
Thank you!
Haha! That is hilarious! Well done!
Thank you!
Dear Laurie,
I wasn’t expecting that ending. 😉 Nice misdirect. That must have been some costume.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Haha thank you!
It must have been a very impressive costume! But maybe it wasn’t… I like the twist! Good story!
Thank you!
Hahaha, that was a good laugh. The MC either wasn’t the brightest or the neighbour tries a cover story.
Thank you! Its a bit of both.
