She ate quickly knowing she couldn’t afford to linger. The mark had been called and she must answer. War was coming. Her job as a scout put her in hot demand. The codes in her pocket burned like they were already on fire. Her escort would arrive shortly. He’d ensure she got off the planet safely with the message she carried for the Queen.

“Kara.”

“Bullocks.” It was him. Why did it have to be him.

“I’m here to escort you—”

“I know. Bullocks.” It had to be her ex, didn’t it? With luck she’d be killed before nightfall.

  1. She could, of course, kill him en route

  2. Never mix business and pleasure! I reckon one of them isn’t going to make it.

  3. Bad luck, that. Somehow, I think she’ll come out o.k.

  4. What can be more tormenting than an ex being a savior. 🙂 Good one, Laurie.

  5. there is a reason he is the Ex. He is useless at his job and will get them caught, perhaps she would be better off on her own. I wonder when this interstellar war will ever end or start or will the universal have peace one day?

  6. Let’s hope both come out of this ordeal intact.

  7. This could make a very exciting love/hate/love/hate adventure 🙂

  8. LOL on the last line. I see they are still inhabiting the same circles as each other. That’s why you don’t sh*t where you eat… Great story, Laurie.

  9. Hmm, maybe in crisis they can work out their problems on the run. Very intriguing story and the beginning of a much bigger tale. 🙂

  10. Dear Laurie,

Not a good relationship I take it. As others have said, perhaps they can work things out. Could be quite an adventure.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
