Where and when (Friday Fictioneers)

PHOTO PROMPT © Miles Rost
No one will notice me hacking into the spacetime vortex from here. I’ve even bought laundry to strengthen my disguise. A writer waiting for her washing. I’ve been in this spacetime for a few weeks. It’s not a bad time to come back to. I mean, it’s not the best… too much racism and online hating, still… It’s not a bad space either. Little town with little surveillance. War hasn’t started. It’s nice, quiet. Boring. The uproar over my crimes should have settled, I’ll pop back to check on my parents—if I can hack my timeline and jump safely.
This is a Friday Fictioneers prompt

“War hasn’t started” is a lovely throw-away touch
Thank you, Neil!
Better be careful they don’t get stuck as a writer, there’s no escape from that! Great imagination 🙂
Hahahaha oh that’s so true!
This feels like part of a much longer piece. I liked “war hasn’t started yet” line too.
I think it could be! Thank you. 🤩
This definitely sounds like a good premise for a movie or novel. I could see a lot of fun with a criminal hanging out in another spacetime, before the war starts. 🙂
Thank you, David! I certainly had fun with it. 😊
This story definitely has legs 🙂
Thank you!
Great time travel story, but with a veiled threat hanging over our heads with that war line.
Thank you!!
Interesting place to jump to. I wonder where I would go if I could go back in time? Well done!
Yes it had me wondering too!
Classic “Laurie Bell.” You can make a shiver out of just about any prompt 🙂
Thank youuuuu! 🤩
Dear Laurie,
You packed a lot of questions into this piece. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you, Rochelle
You made me think of the movie, “In Bruges” in a good way. Hope it all works out for her.
Thank you!
You’re welcome 🙂
Interesting story. When you’re trying to hack time, you need a safe place to work. Nicely done, Laurie.
Yes, exactly Bill!
